Footloose

It's been a while.
Mom has arrived home from visiting Bridgey in Italy from February 26 through March 2. She had a lot of fun, but upon her arrival she has had a fever and today she stayed in bed.
If you are reading this Bridget- thank you so much for the gorgeous Italian skinny jeans... they fit!!

Anywho, the third quarter is going to end of March 13th, that's a Friday... AHH!
Miley-cat just broke a plate so there was some delay in my posting. Ooh! Three weeks ago I went to see some of my friends in their high school's production of Footloose!
It was awesome!

Composing, Apologies, Sickness, Dissapointment, Valentines

So, I haven't actually posted anything in a long while, not since January anyways. I decided that much is needed to be said so here goes:

Reviving Ophelia, Friday the 13th at 7:30 - Opening Night, we're all excited! Too bad I was sick in bed with a fever all day. I couldn't even star in the show that I had been working on since sometime in December. I was extremely angry about not being able to perform. There were only two nights that we would perform, Friday and Valentines' Day. Unfortunately I couldn't do the second performance either. But I was well enough to be some fun extra parts, like a First Grader and a Party Guest!

I really miss my sister Bridgey because she is awesome and she is Italy. My mom is going to visit her in Italy in March sometime and what really irks me is that I just discovered that I have off school the days that she is going. Grrr.

Anywhoo. Happy Be-Lated Valentines Day! I did nothing this Valentines Day but sit on the couch and try to get better. Later that night I managed to do the little extra roles in the play, but apart from that - I was sniffling and coughing and trying to recover. For this years' Valentines Day gifts, I am currently composing a piano piece for my friend Lexxy. It is going to be a little late since I started it on Thursday... But so far it's coming along nicely!

Peace, Love and Thanks for Reading!!

Two Things I Love About my Cats

1. Miley never holds grudges.
2. Zander is always loving.

Hmm, what do I mean by this?
Well, today is a good example for both of those things. First of all, Miley's wonderful trait:
Today, Miley decided to start chewing on my Dad's plants in the hallway and that is illegal for Miley! So I pull her away and tell her no. But moments later, she does it again. I pull her away again and hold her this time- telling her no but then, I lose my grip of her and she falls out of my arms in an awkward way. She landed on her paws - of course - but I still felt sorry, so I picked her up and brought her on my bed and she lay down & was purring in no time - proving her point that she doesn't hold grudges.
Which brings me to my second point, about Zander. I was playing with Miley and I decided to put her in the laundry basket that was by my bed. So I did and Zander was watching. I took her out after a little bit because I didn't think she really liked it in there. So I played with her on the bed for a little bit, but then I noticed something was in the laundry basket - it was Zander, looking absolutely cute in the laundry basket, impersonating Miley. I felt so bad that I hadn't been playing with him so I picked him up and they both purred together.

Yay!

The Inauguration!!

Hello!

So today I went to the Inauguration of the 44th President of the United States of America, Barack H. Obama!!
It was pretty amazing.
At 8 o'clock this morning me, my mother, my friend and her mother left my house on our bikes to arrive downtown around 9 o'clock and hand our bikes over to the WABA Bike Valet (thank you so much you amazing volunteers!!) So we bustled about to arrive on the Mall. We were positioned slightly behind and to the left of the Washington Monument and that's where we stood until we left. Our fifty people radius, our crowd, was the most amazing crowd to stand with!! I guess every single person there (except for the crazy religious people with the Trust Jesus signs) was amazing, however OUR crowd was hilarious!! There was a guy like a little ways away from our crowd who held up a bag. I said, "Put the bag down please!" Then a couple people around me started chanting, "Put the bag down! Put the bag down!" The entire group started chanting that, then finally he put it down. Another funny incident was when some random lady started waving this ginormous American flag with a unicorn on it and the word "Freedom" underneath. We all looked at each other and started chanting, "Put the flag down!" It was funny! Barack Obama's speech was inspiring to say the least. Aretha Franklin- amazing.
So after Obama was sworn in, everyone tried to get out at the same time- resulting in a human deadlock. We stood for about an hour enclosed by more people and Port-a-Potties. After a little bit a random guy with blue skinny jeans decided to jump up onto the Port-a-Johns! (Kudos to you Skinny J. Guy!) A few more people jumped up after him and the rest of the crowd simply asked what they saw: "People, trees, ya' know." were their responses. So after an hour of standing and occasionally moving, we got out and onto the street where we were once more at a slightly moving standstill.

Yes, that was a ton of fun! Good luck Barack Obama!!

Much love, thanks for reading,

Gracie

The Inaugural Concert

Today I went to the Inaugural Concert down at the mall with my mom. We rode our bikes about 16 miles (there and back) in the cold. It was really really fun. Bono, Beyonce, Shakira, Usher, Stevie Wonder, Pete Seeger, Joe Biden, Samuel L. Jackson, Rosario Dawson & Barack Obama were all there, along with several billion people!
It was so much fun!
Here are some photos!!

Kudos and Love - I am not a Hippie!

Today was my last day of exams and they were quite easy- Scriptures and Spanish. I recently saw a music video that my older sister's friend had made to her original song. It was really good! Kudos! I actually don't know exactly the meaning of the term 'kudos' even though I use it and hear it avidly. Hmmm... Urban Dictionary or Wikipedia?
Ahh Urban Dictionary won it out:
To gain kudos is to earn respect and recognition.

Well yes, that seems right! Caitlin I give you respect and recognition in your music video/original song!!
Yay!! It fits! Too many exclamation points!

*Ahem* Recently I was on my Facebook account- yes I use Facebook, if you have a blog it'd be odd if you did not also you Facebook -and I was really bored because I arrived home early and no one was online, soooo I decided to update my 'about me' in my information thingy on Facebook. Here goes, I thought it was interesting:

I am claustrophobic. I have OCD. I am random. I love my friends. I love music. I love to play music. I love to listen to music. Face it- I love music. I love acting. I love writing letters. I love receiving letters. I love my roof. I love my cats & dog. I love my family. I love water. I love nature. I love you. I love me. I love when stereotypes are broken. I love eyes (they are cool up close!). I love to read. I love to write. I love photography. I wish I had a better camera. I love to learn. I love being a redhead. I love traveling. I love Europe. I love Maryland. I love D.C. I love peace. I love animals. I love culture. I love different accents. I love painting. I love art. I love uniqueness. I love football. I love the Washington Redskins. I love fire. I love snow. I love rain. I love windows. I love the moon. I love to swim. I love psychology. I love organization. I love wood. I love diversity. I love drawing.

Thank you! Yes that was random but I was bored. And now a snippet from a very enjoyable song that is too long to post because it is nine minutes of amazingness!

Konstantine by Something Corporate

I can't imagine all the people that you know
And the places that you go
When the lights are turned down low
And I don't understand
All the things you've seen
But I'm slipping in between
You and your big... dreams
it's always you in my big dreams

And you tell me
That it's over
Wake up lying in a patch of four leaf clover
And you're restless
And I'm naked
You've got to get out
You can't stand to see me shaking
no, could you let me go
I didn't think so

and you don't want to be here in the future
So you say
the present's just a pleasant
Interruption to the past
And you don't want to look much closer
'Cause you're afraid to find out all this hope
You had sent into the sky by now had... crashed
and it did because of me

And then you bring me home
Afraid to find out that you're alone, no
And I'm sleeping in your living room
But we don't have much room
To live

(ah what the hell, here's the whole song!)

I had these dreams, in them I learned to play guitar
Maybe cross the country
Become a rockstar
And there was hope in me
That I could take you there
But damn it you're so young
But I don't think I care
and if I hurt you then i'm sorry
please don't think that this was easy

And then you bring me home
'Cause we both know what it's like to be alone, no
And I'm dreaming in your living room
But we don't have much room
To live

And Konstantine is walking down the stairs
Doesn't she look good
Standing in her underwear?
And I was thinking, what I was thinking
But we've been drinking
And it doesn't get me anywhere

My Konstantine came walking down the stairs
And all that I could do
Was touch her long blonde hair
And I've been thinking
It hurts me thinking
That these nights when we were drinking
No they never got us anywhere, no

This is because I can spell konfusion with a K
And I can like it
It's to dying in anothers arms
and why i had to try it
It's to jimmy eat world
and those nights in my car
when the first star you see
may not be a star
I'm not your star
Isn't that what you said?
what you thought this song meant

And if this is what it takes
just to lie with my mistakes
and live with what I did to you
All the hell I put you through
I always catch the clock it's 11:11
And now you want to talk
it's not hard to dream
You'll always be my Konstantine
My Konstantine

They'll never hurt you like I do
No, They'll never hurt you like I do
No, No, No, No, No, No, No

This is to a girl who got into my head
with all the pretty things she did
Hey, You know, you keep me up in bed
This is to a girl who got into my head
with all these fucked up things I did
Hey maybe baby, you could keep me up in bed
My Konstantine

Spin around me like a dream
We played out on this movie screen
And I said,
Did you know I miss you
Did you know I miss you
Did you know I miss you

I miss you

And then you bring me home
And we'll go to sleep but this time not alone, no No,
And then you'll kiss me in your living room, oh
I know you miss me in your living room
Cause these nights I think maybe that I miss you in my living room
We don't have much room
I said, does anybody need that room?
Because we all need a little more room
To live

...My Konstantine.

Hello!
If you were wondering why those last sentences were in French, it is because I took French since I was six so I am basically fluent- though my computer has no French accents. sorry! Now for the translation and more stuffies!

Today was my Algebra exam. It was easy except for a few questions that were on percentages (%) and some word problems. But, all the others were very easy & I left the exam room with a half hour left. Yes! I was very happy to come home at 10 o'clock in the morning! A whole day for me do to whatever I wanted, but of course, it wasn't that great. I was cold and hungry a lot today. But apart from those small bad things, it was a good day!

Yeah, that basically sums up the past six or so hours. Tomorrow I have two exams so I will not arrive home as early as I did today.

I was just thinking about emulsifiers. In my Biology class I learned about emulsification and I was just thinking about it when I was washing olive oil off my hands because I was baking bread. But the soap I used had a polar and non-polar ends which surround the lipids and take it away from my hands. A useful little tid-bit of science!

Later, much love!!
